Located at the head of the channel is the community of Kitimat, about 66 km (40 miles) south of Terrace and accessible from Highway 37. The Douglas Channel is a fjord on the North Coast of British Columbia and stretches westward to meet the Inside Passage, connecting Kitimat to the open Pacific Ocean.
Fly into Terrace/Kitimat Airport (YXT): Located about 40 minutes from Kitimat by car. Daily flights connect from Vancouver (YVR) and other BC hubs.
From Terrace: Kitimat is about 66 km (40 miles) south via Highway 37. The scenic drive takes roughly 45 minutes.
From Prince George: About a 7-hour drive west on Highway 16, then south on Highway 37.
From Vancouver: Roughly 16 hours by road, so most visitors choose to fly to Terrace first.
Kitimat is located at the head of the Douglas Channel, which connects to the Inside Passage.
